It was, is and will be Amitav Ghosh and his trilogy for atleast some time to come which will form the topic of discussion with the book lovers of Chennai who were in full attendance at the launch of his latest book, ‘Flood of Fire’ at the President hotel .The audience were swept off their feet by the two speakers who are known for their eloquence. Mr.Gopal Gandhi in his inimitable style punched with sarcasm introduced the book and gave an insight into the author’s mind in his interaction that followed. For a pleasant change young students had very pertinent questions to ask which both amused and gladdened the author.
When I walked into the venue well in advance of the scheduled time I was surprised to find only a few seats were taken and a few others were occupied with kerchiefs and all kinds of articles to announce that they are reserved. Even as I wondered for whom the reservation was supposed to be, I soon knew the answer when I stepped into the adjoining room!
