Our politicians’ sense of history 24/3/2016

It is a fact that reading expands a person’s knowledge besides helping him/her get a better perspective of life. Unfortunately we find our politicians   irrespective of whether they are in power or not lack a sense of history and the recent example of Sashi Tharoor’s answer to a question , proves this. This reminds me of an American writer’s reply when he was asked whether writers have to be great readers to inspire them and he laughingly said some writers have to read more than others do. I feel it applies more so to our politicians who make statements which exposes their ignorance. They also don’t seem to realize comparisons are odious and one should   restrain from making equal comparisons.
