When my old maid’s husband who was suffering from dementia went missing one day, she was distraught for months together. The family tried their best searching for him but it proved futile and now more than a year has passed and the poor woman sort of reconciled herself to her fate. But she fears going back to her home town because of the accusations she has to face from her relatives and the local people.
My present maid ‘s spouse has been in and out of hospitals with liver problems due to his alcoholism and stopped going to work ending up as a parasite with no financial contribution to his family. The other day I asked how he was doing, and pat came her reply, ‘I wish he goes missing from home like the husband of your previous maid so that we would be rid of him ’.
I could understand her frustration with a no gooder of a man who not only ruined his life but is also continuing to make his family miserable. Where is the solution I wondered.
