How come no exceptions? 25/7/2014

Grandma, it looks like there is no profession where people pursuing it are not tempted,  observed my grand daughter even as she was watching the news channel.

You mean being corrupt ? I said stressing on the last  word.

Precisely. All along I thought corruption means taking bribes for doing favours, she said .

Well, no one does you a favour  for nothing. More so when you seek favours from persons in power, I stated.

Perhaps you are right grandma, but do even friends  do you a favour expecting something in return? She asked full of doubt.

Yes, there are no exceptions. Only difference is they may not demand cash before promising to do what ever you ask for, I clarified.

Then it may be in kind , is it ? she said.

Well, it all depends  upon your friend, I said. For instance if she/he is not money minded, the return can be in kind, I explained.

Grandma, do relatives also expect something in return for the favour they have done you?

A big Yes, I  asserted. People are the same whether they are friends or relatives. Like there are no exceptions in a profession where people pursuing it are not tempted, there are no exceptions among relatives also as they are also human. Only difference is they may not ask but certainly expect something in kind atleast, I  said.
