My friends while on our morning walk asked me what gift I had given my husband for our wedding anniversary (which was on the previous day). I said ‘nothing’ and that set me thinking the whole day. When I reflected, I could only remember the practice of spouses giving gifts to each other on their birthdays and for wedding anniversaries, it is invariably the husband who gifts his wife mostly with a sari, a handbag or a piece of imitation jewelery that is flooding the market. Choosing an appropriate gift for the husband for his birthday is quite a challenge with the limited choice of gifts for men and if one has to include a gift for wedding anniversary as well, wives are sure to run out of ideas!
As far as my imagination/creativity goes, I can’t think beyond clothes and wallets as gifts for men and unlike women they make do with a small wardrobe and a single wallet. Probably that’s the reason the practice of wives giving a gift to the husband on wedding anniversaries is not practiced!
