MEDIA —A WATCH DOG? 08/01/2013

Even as I was trying to get  used to life  without  spending time in front of the tv not due to choice though (our tv had conked off), I regretted  missing  all the lively debates on issues and non issues. When I  happened  to watch a couple of news channels  while at a friend’s place, I  was quite cut up at the way  the media was making an issue of  the language used  by  ‘spiritual’  leaders and  women haters  among our politicians whose mindset is like a  site that is static, never updated for what ever reason. Can we expect anything better from such a tribe?

Well, if the media has to play a watch dog’s role in the real sense, it should  watch for and project  burning issues which require urgent solutions and not  watch  the language used by so called  ‘leaders’ who come in all shapes and sizes and lure gullible  sections of society into being  their followers.
