No time please 22/08/2012

On the one hand we talk of saving energy and on the other waste it without any sense of guilt or compunction. I am referring to people commuting in air conditioned cars and  instead of  alighting at their destinations, continue to keep conversing  within the  car  endlessly with the  engine running and the air conditioner working and keeping the driver waiting invariably outside the vehicle (most often the  destination is a residence, either  their own or their friend’s).

Ironically, these are the very people who are supposed to be educated, cultured and I am sad  to add  belong to   the fair sex  who seem to  care  two hoots about  energy conservation. They apparently have ‘no time’ to step inside the house to carry on their conversation/ discussion!

Good musings. People are more concerned with what they can get out of this world for themselves than how they can contribute to make the world a more liveable place for all.

There is a flip side to this story. You can transact quite a bit of your talking (business, not gossip!) on the move, especially if the ride is a long one. The driver is driving in comfort. The overflowing bit on reaching the destination can be excused.

    1. It all depends on the duration of the overflowing bit.Reminds me of a speaker who looked at the wall clock at the end of his speech and the audience pointed to the calender !
