Sometimes I find certain words are liberally used in our everyday conversation and they almost become a refrain. One such word is ‘Attitude’ we hear the judges in Talent contests over TV channels using all the time that it makes me wonder whether they refer to it in a positive or negative sense. Coming to think of it, don’t we all have an attitude towards people we meet in our daily life and in our social life as well? Our attitude towards the rich is different from our attitude towards the poor. This quality or trait is inherent in everyone of us, it may only vary in degree.
The attitude of politicians again varies depending upon the occasion not only because they are a class apart but also because they belong to a different breed. Unlike pre independence days we hardly have any statesmen these days. Their attitude is very different before the elections and after they come to power, it changes like a weather cock!
The dictionary meaning says attitude is a negative or hostile state of mind. To me it appears too sweeping a meaning and a generalization. What do readers think, I would like to know.
